Elephant rehabilitation park

This is two hours from KL. They rescue elephants which are being threatened because they're habitat is shrinking. We fed, rode and bathed with the elephants. We climbed on the elephants, walked into the river and the elephant fell over and dumped us in the water! Incoming poo ...

  1. Wow Liam What a great time you are having. We would have loved to have ridden the elephants. The python around the neck though, that's another thing altogether. You are gamer than we are - must be all the chillies that you are eating! Looks as if you are managing chopsticks very well too.
Lots of love & hugs from Nana & Grandad

  2. Hi Liam

Was the elephant riding fun? Did it feel like you were going to fall off? Because when I did it in India and Thailand it felt like I was. Hope you're having a good time.

  3. Hi Liam

We are enjoying keeping up with your blog. We were particularly fascinated with the elephants. We are looking at myths and legends this term in our class. Perhaps you could find out some of the myths and legends of the places that you are visiting.

I hope that you are having fun in Indonesia too.

  4. Hi Hamish
The elephant riding was fun and it didn't feel like we were going to fall off, but in the end we did fall off!!! We had no choice when the elephant walked into the river and tipped us off.

  5. Hi Anna

We have been learning about some of the religious legends. In Kuala Lumpur we visited a Hindu Temple in a cave believed to have Gods who cure people with illnesses. There is a giant statue of the father God who set his two sons a challenge to see who was the most intelligent.

The challenge was who could go around the world the fastest. One of the sons was a bird and very fast and flew around the world. The other was an elephant (Ganesh)who was very slow. However, he won the challenge by walking around his parents who were the world to him. Smart!

  6. It sounds a bit like the story about the tortoise and the hare.
