Lombok's South coast

Lombok's South coast reminded us of New Zealand's - drier than the West coast where we are staying; windy and stunning white sand beaches.

Lombok's cottage industries

Lombok is famous for its pottery and weaving. Mum tried her hand at weaving and I made a turtle from clay.

Lombok sunset

What beautiful sunsets there are from Lombok looking across the Lombok Strait to Bali's volcanoes.

Gili Islands

We are now in Lombok and took a day trip to the Gili Islands for some snorkeling on their reefs. The coral wasn't as colorful as that in Bali due to bleaching by El Nino, but we did see 4 turtles! We went in a traditional wooden outrigger boat. (We,ve got pics for you,John Henry Murray!!!)

waterfalls, lakes and temples

On our second day in Munduk, we went for a walk through the forest. What amazing scenery!
